A study by researchers Teresa Bell and Rebecca Borden in Foreign Language Annals found that it is possible to attain and maintain the expected Advanced Low minimum proficiency level with the proper support for lifelong learning and other target language activities, such as interacting with native speakers and consuming media in the target language.
